DARIUS LATHAM-KOENIG

Associate

Darius is a solicitor with a strong background in criminal law and complex commercial litigation, often working with high-net-worth individuals and a range of business across multiple sectors. Joining Grosvenor Law in October 2024, he trained at the London office of a leading US law firm.

Darius has advised clients on criminal investigations brought by UK and international law enforcement authorities and regulators, including the UK’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO), the National Crime Agency (NCA), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the US Department of Justice. He has acted on some of the most high-profile SFO prosecutions in recent years, including defending individuals in connection with SFO investigations in respect of G4S and an international commodities trading company.

Darius’s recent criminal cases include:

  • Acting for an ultra-high-net-worth individual charged with travelling on a fraudulently obtained passport. The investigation was led by the NCA.
  • Acting for the parties allegedly involved in a “£200-million-pound fraud”. The high-profile investigation is being led by the NCA and Darius is currently working on a pre-charge.
  • Representing a senior commodities trader in relation to an investigation brought by the SFO, with parallel proceedings led by the US Department of Justice, following allegations and corporate admissions of bribery in West Africa.
  • Representing one of the defendants in a prosecution by the SFO relating to an alleged fraud against the UK government by G4S.
  • Advising major life sciences companies on internal investigations as well as compliance matters.

Darius’s recent civil cases include:

  • Defending a prominent hedge fund in complex restrictive covenant and breach of contract proceedings at the High Court against claims brought by a quantitative proprietary trading company.
  • Defending a cloud-based integration platform software company against claims of discrimination by association, breach of contract and personal data breach at the Employment Tribunal.
  • Defending a global pharmaceutical company in intellectual property claims stemming from the manufacturing of Covid-19 mRNA vaccines.
  • Representing a major cryptocurrency exchange in actions against various parties for breaching their contractual obligations regarding their use of the cryptocurrency exchange.
  • Acting for a prominent businessman in real estate insolvency claims against overseas investors regarding a major East London development opportunity.
  • Defending an automobile parts manufacturer against asbestos-related mesothelioma claims.

Darius obtained a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford as well as a Masters in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Masters in International Business Law (King’s College London) with distinction. In 2022, Darius was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music.

He speaks fluent Farsi, and has a working knowledge of French.
